A Sunny January Saturday in Connemara

Waking up in sunny Salthill

Laura waking up in sunny Salthill

So last Saturday, I finally picked up the camera again.

Gathering dust since the summer, its first major outing since then was to beautiful, rugged Connemara in the west of Ireland – the poor ol’ Nikon deserved a treat!

The photography Gods were smiling on us as we got a fine, sunny, rain-free day – rare enough at the best of times, never mind January!

These photos are ordered chronologically from first light to last light, or from our Salthill base in the morning to the sunset in Connemara.

They show our stop offs on our way to Connemara National Park, which were made randomly, when we liked the look of something… and I liked the look of a lot of reflections!

And then they show, when we got to the park, the hike up Diamond Hill and back down again, as the sun set on a great day.

Stopped here while driving by, hopped a fence, tip-toed through a very marshy field looking for tufts of steady tufts of grass to get to the water's edge. Feet got wet. Fell on my arse. It also got wet. Totally worth it!

Prague Photo

Oops, I only went and left probably my favourite Prague photo out of my post of photos from our visit there last weekend.

This narrow and short street was tucked in behind our apartment and, apart from a lot of graffiti, it contained a photo gallery. Above the gallery door sat a lady, with a bright red heart shining out from beneath her white breast.

It’s visible in the photo, if you click through to the big version and have a closer look.

Click on any of the images for the larger versions. I have uploaded fairly big files as I feel the details in some of the buildings and landscapes are worth it.

Prague is a beautiful city.

I had a lot of time to appreciate Petrin Hill as it took me a long time to get down it (with bones intact) in the most innapropriate footwear for icy Prague hills!

Irish Weather Online

For those of you, like me, who love nothing more than stunning images then the Facebook page run by the team over at Irish Weather Online is an absolute must “like”.

Or for those sensible enough to have no Facebook account, you can still view the images if you visit the page.

Anyway, I’m delighted to have made their album of favourite images from around Ireland in 2012 with the photo below and if you visit the album you’ll see my image is keeping some pretty exceptional company.
